The Beefy Boys's story: The Beefy Boys is a meat-loving restaurant selling all things burgers, cocktails and calorific food in Hereford. What makes this post work is they have let the food speak for itself with a strong image – at Maybe we have seen time and time again that ‘food porn’ sells. A simple, tongue-in-cheek caption created fun discussion which any business should aim for on social media. In this instance it more than doubled the amount of comments than on other posts. Succeed with social like The Beefy Boys.
Edward’s Plaice's story: Edward’s Plaice is an independent fish and chips shop and to celebrate their 6th birthday they ran a competition on Facebook for their followers to create some engagement. They chose a cool prize and kept their competition entry easy – encouraging new, local people to follow their page, whilst engaging their current audience. The results were phenomenal, with 576 engagements, over 700 comments and 698 shares increasing their audience dramatically. Succeed with social like Edwards Plaice.

Free stuff for you? Really? Yes, really.
We’re being paid by the UK Government to help you use social media to achieve your business objectives: more sales, more customers, wider reputation, whatever works for you. It’s all part of a UK Government scheme, called UKCRF, and it’s aimed at businesses in selected places around the UK, with training and business promotion offered free of charge.
What's in it for Maybe*?
Maybe* is here to help businesses get more out of social media, so watching you get better and better results on social media makes us happy. But we’re also hoping that you really like what you can do with Maybe* and that you want to carry on using Maybe* after your free access has finished.
Are the grants available for any business in the UK?
No. At the moment we can only offer it to small businesses in these areas of the UK: Aberdeenshire, Dundee, Essex, Herefordshire, North Lanarkshire and South Lanarkshire. But if your business isn’t based in these places, we still have something useful for you: a range of free social media guides to help you succeed in your business sector and locality. Find out more here.
Is the grant of up to £3,740 really free?
It’s free in the sense that you don’t pay for anything at all, but you’ll need to invest a bit of your time. You must sign up for a free Maybe* account, watch some of our training videos, complete a short online survey and have a chat with one of our team.
Does Maybe* get paid?
Yes, your Local Authority pays us to give you free access to our online services, and to help us pay Facebook and Instagram on your behalf for your business promotion.
