Local Rewards launched within the Maybe* product

We are excited to announce the launch of Local Rewards, our nationwide rewards scheme that will help rebuild your local economy by encouraging shoppers to spend on the high street

Through a chatbot on Facebook Messenger, shoppers can browse nearby businesses that are participating in Local Rewards. Once in store, your customers will earn points for every pound spent, which can be redeemed against a reward of your choosing - free parking, a coffee or an exclusive discount. 

Through the Maybe* platform, you can then view your reward performance, including all spend from Visa and MasterCard transactions. This means that for the first time, your business can see exactly how much online promotion drives in-store sales.

Creating your first reward

In the Local Rewards drop down at the top of the page, select Add a Reward.

From here, you can start filling out the information for your reward, starting with a catchy reward title to entice shoppers to read more. 

You can then provide more information under the Reward subtitle, including the name of your business.

Create your reward by filling in the Add a Reward form. Previews on the right-hand side will show you how your reward will look in the chatbot and on social media.

Next, you must choose how you want your customers to redeem your reward. Selecting ‘Message redemption’ means you can choose a special word that shoppers need to present to your team at the till. Alternatively, choosing ‘Message with a random code’ will assign your customers with a code to show when purchasing in-store. You can provide more information on these in the ‘How do people redeem their reward with you’ section.

Please note, we will shortly be releasing a third option, where you will be able to upload a list of your own codes to be redeemed.

You will then be able to choose how many points a shopper will need to redeem your reward. Keep in mind that customers get 100 points for free upon registering and earn points for each pound they spend through Local Rewards.

You can then select the start and end dates for your reward, with an option to add an ongoing end date.  You can also assign your location by searching for your business address. 

Next, under Your reward terms we have prefilled a template with your company name, which you can edit as needed.

Finally, upload a high-quality picture which is relevant to the reward and your business. You can check how this looks by viewing the previews on the right-hand side of the page. The top preview shows you what your reward will look like in the chatbot on a phone, while the bottom preview displays how your reward will look when shared to your social media. 

Once you are happy with the previews, clicking Add a reward will take you to a new page where you can share the reward directly to your Facebook and Twitter pages. You can also download the image to share to Instagram. 

Made a mistake anywhere? Once back on the Local Rewards page you can edit the reward by clicking on the pen icon in the My rewards section of the page.

Add your location to track Visa and MasterCard payments

You need to add your business location to track reward performance such as Visa and MasterCard payments, which can be done easily from the Local Rewards page.

Head to the Local Rewards drop down at the top of the page and select My rewards. Under My business locations, click on Add a location to open up a box where you can search your company name.

Once selected, a message will appear that explains your location is being validated and verified which can take up to 10 working days. We will notify you by email once this is complete and that we have begun to track Visa & MasterCard transactions. 

If you have more than one business location, you now have the option to add these by entering the name in the search bar at the top, otherwise press close. 

Please note, if you have added your location when creating a reward, this process is already complete and we will notify you when transactions are being tracked.
